Screenings

• Cholesterol Screening: Includes a lipid panel (including total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides) as well as a blood pressure screening. The lipid panel requires a 14-hour fast and is obtained by a fingerstick. The results are ready in five minutes. Registration is required.
• Osteoporosis Screening: Osteoporosis develops over time, and often the diagnosis occurs after a bone fracture. Early detection of osteoporosis is crucial. Women over 35 are invited for a free bone density ultrasound screening. Appointment required.
• Podiatry Screening: An Alexian Brothers podiatrist will conduct a free foot screening to detect foot problems such as structural imbalances, heel pain, general foot and ankle pain, bunions, hammertoes, athlete's foot, corns, calluses and fungal nails.
• Prostate Screening: Alexian Brothers Medical Center will conduct a free prostate cancer screening. The screening will consist of a PSA (prostate specific antigen) blood test and digital rectal exam. Men who are eligible to participate in this screening must be 45-75 years of age and have no history of prostate cancer or current symptoms of prostate problems. Men 35 years and older are also encouraged to participate in this screening if they have one of the following risk factors: a family history of prostate cancer or be of African- American or Hispanic descent.
